osCmax 2.5.1 Released
Our monthly osCmax release is now ready for download. This version fixes over 40 issues as well as closing some recently discovered security vulnerabilities with the admin panel that could allow XSS or SQL injection attacks under specific circumstances. If you are already running osCmax v2.5.0, you can get the changes only package to make upgrading even easier. Both the full package and changes only package are available from the download page. Download osCmax v2.5.1 here: osCMax Power e-commerce software | osCMax - osCommerce Maximized It is highly recommended that everyone running osCmax 2.5.0 or earlier versions upgrade to osCmax v2.5.1 as soon as possible. Upgrading
Upgrading from 2.5.0 is a relatively painless process. If you have a heavily modified store, I recommend you manually compare and merge in the changes to your shop to make sure none of your changes are overwritten. Follow these steps for the automated upgrade process: 1. Make a backup of both your 2.5.0 files and database as a precaution. 2. Put your site in Down For Maintenance Mode (you may need to add your IP to the allowed admin IPs there) 3. Upload the new files from the Changes-Only zip file overwriting the existing files. 4. Login to your admin panel and go to the Administrator >> Upgrade System section. 5. On the upgrade system page, you should see some asking if you want to upgrade. Click the upgrade button. 6. Refresh the page in your browser. It should tell you that you are now running the latest version. That is it. Comments
We would love to hear how the upgrade process goes for you, and what you think about the latest release. Be sure to check in and add your thoughts to the discussion:
osCmax v2.5.1 has been released : discussion
We have released a patch for osCmax v2.5.0 that fixes several administration issues that could be disruptive to workflow.
If you are running osCmax v2.5.0, it is recommended that you apply this patch immediately to resolve these issues.
The patch is very easy to apply. Download the changes-only zip file. Unzip it, then FTP upload it to your osCmax installation - overwriting the existing files.
Only the changed files are included in the patch and there are no database changes.
The changes-only package and full updated osCmax package can be downloaded from this page:
For details on what files are changed, see this forum post:
We are pleased to announce that osCmax v2.5.0 is ready for download NOW!
This version of osCmax is by far the most robust, feature filled and bug free version we have ever released. It is the result of thousands of hours of planning, coding, debugging, testing and updating. This version is packed features, fixes, tweaks and enhancements. A large majority of which were specifically requested by you, the osCmax community.
Over the course of the last year and a half, we on the development team made it our number one priority to listen to what you wanted from osCmax and deliver something you would love using. This release is a major upgrade in every sense of the word. The features we have added have been tightly focused on improving usability, work flow, efficiency and performance.
The new version is available for download from osCmax.com right now, so you can get it immediately. The release supports automated database upgrades from v2.5 Beta3, 2.5RC1 and 2.5RC2. We have also created an automated upgrade script that you can download separately that will upgrade v2.0.25 to the latest v2.5.0 release.
Finally, I want to thank all of you that use osCmax every day and take the time and effort to report issues, help others and contribute your ideas and experiences. Your being a part of the osCmax community is what makes everything we do possible and worthwhile.

Beta 1 of osCmax v2.5 was officially released Monday. This is a pre-release for testing, and while it is quite stable, it is not recommended production use just yet. After a few weeks of beta testing, if all goes well, v2.5 stable will be generally released for production. For those following development, you will notice that the version number has changed a bit from what we had been using. Due to the large amounts of changes to the code, we wanted to reflect that more accurately with our version number designation, thus the jump to v2.5.
We encourage everyone to download the new version for testing, as it is a major change in osCmax and you will want to get familiar with all the new features and changes.

Anything not in by the code freeze date will be excluded from this release.

Last week I covered eight major new featues in osCmax v2.1. Today I am changing gears and summarizing a long list of smaller enhancements that add up to a major improvement to the osCmax package. These are not the only changes added in v2.1, but this is a summary of some of the key minor improvements.
Customer Comments - Fully redesigned and allows admins to make comments on customer orders. The comments are displayed on the orders page as well as the customers page for easy tracking.
Must Accept Terms - This forces a customer to accept your store's terms and conditions and will not allow checkout unless they do. This is optional of course, with an easy switch to turn on or off.
